Best Beachfront Parks in Daytona Beach

One of the benefits of living in Daytona Beach is the community's many beachfront parks. With over ten to choose from, how can you determine which is the best one to visit? While any of Daytona Beach's beachfront parks can be a great destination, there are a few which stand out from the rest.

Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park
Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park, located on Ormond Beach, spans 40 acres of beachfront property and is considered one of the largest parks in Daytona Beach.  Here you will find areas to play football, baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, and soccer. It also boasts a fishing dock, and a large picnic area with pavilion to relax as you enjoy the sun and surf. For parents with small children, a playground is a welcome addition to this particular park. Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park is open from sunrise to sunset every day.

Lighthouse Point Park
Situated on Ponce Inlet, Lighthouse Point Park is a haven for wildlife. These 52 acres are home to armadillos, skunks, possums and more, including a wide variety of birds. For nature lovers, the park boasts several nature trails as well as an observation deck and tower. Of course, if your goal is to spend some time enjoying the water, swimming is available on the beautiful beaches. Picnicking is also an option at the park.

Smyrna Dunes Park
With two miles of elevated walkways, Smyrna Dunes Park in New Smyrna Beach provides excellent vistas to observe the local wildlife. It is known as one of the best places in the area for bird watching. The park welcomes pets and offers picnic areas, pavilions, and an observation tower. If you want to fish, there are fishing piers at the park as well.

Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park
Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park is much smaller than these others, but with amenities like swimming, a community building, fishing piers, playgrounds, tennis and volleyball courts, boardwalks and canoeing, it provides ample amounts of recreation in its six acres. It is also located in New Smyrna Beach.
